The Governing Body is composed of volunteers from the community from all walks of life who make a positive contribution to the education of the children within our care. They bring an external perspective to the running of the school and have a key role in decision making and supporting the school. Their role is often described as being ‘a critical friend’.
Specific duties of the governors include:
Working with the Head Teacher to determine the overall direction of the school
- Overseeing the school’s budget
- Helping recruit staff
- Monitoring the performance of the school, e.g. in examinations and key stage tests
- Advising on school policies and procedures.
The Full Governing Body meets once every school term and governors also sit on one of two Committees – the Pupils and Resources Committees – who also meet once each term to focus on specific areas of importance within the school.
